Thanks again to all that came out for the 2009 Rock-Stick Challenge! It was another tight, exciting race this year with HFAR Knights/Outcast winning the advanced course in 7hrs 21mins. See full results for each race below.

Rock-Stick Promotions LLC. is proud to bring you the 6th annual Rock-Stick Challenge (RSC) to be held on Saturday, June 6th on the north shore of Grapevine Lake. The DFW area's largest adventure race, the RSC features a sport and advanced course that allows racers of all skill levels and experience to test themselves against the course and the competition.

Pre Registration deadline is May 27th. T-shirt and race swag is only guaranteed to teams registered by this date!
Rain/Cancellation Policy: In the event of rain or foul weather as determined by the race management and/or The U.S Army Corps of Engineers, the race may be postponed or even cancelled. In the event that trails are closed, race management will implement an alternate course. If severe weather results in the cancellation of the event, an alternate date will be scheduled and all paid registrations will be forwarded to the rescheduled date.
Sport Course

Never done an adventure race? Looking for a weekend training exercise? Want to explore the unknown? The sport course is for you!
The sport course will have solo racers or two person teams running/trekking and biking their way through an 8-12 mile course with possible physical and/or mental challenges thrown in along the way. This race is perfect for those wanting the feel of a real Adventure Race without the commitment of a longer, full scale race. The course will be a marked course so no navigation experience is needed to participate.

Location: Grapevine Lake (Directions Here)
Estimated Winning Time: 2 hours
Who: Racers of all skill levels
Divisions: Solo, 2person coed, male(MM), and Female(FF) teams. *Note: 2 Coed is premier division All other divisions will be rolled into 1 for prizes and/or awards.
Cost: $50 per racer
Racer Check In: 7:30-8:30am
Race Briefing: 8:45am
Race Start: 9:00am
Required Gear:
- 1 mountain bike per team member
- 1 bike helmet per team member
Recommended Gear:
- 1 hydration system per team member (water bottle, camelbak, etc)
- Food (energy bars, gels, etc)
- Extra pair shoes/socks
- Change of clothes (for post race)
- Sun shade or EZ Up for transition area
- Sun Block
- Bug Spray
- Good attitude!
Advanced Course

Are you ready to take it up a notch? Try the Advanced Course and you will be hooked! The Advanced Course will take teams of 2, 3, or 4 through a diverse course encompassing all that Grapevine Lake has to offer and provide the challenge that racers have come to expect from the RSC. Teams will be required to navigate while biking, running, and paddling using 1:24,000 USGS topographic maps and compass to a series of checkpoints throughout the 25 to 40 mile course. This race gives participants a taste of what real adventure racing is all about.

Estimated Finishing Time: 6 – 8 hours (race-cut off at 10 hours)
Who: Racers of all skill levels
Divisions: 2,3,4 person Coed, male, female, masters. *Note: 4Coed is premier division. All other divisions will be rolled into 1 for prizes and/or awards.
Boats: Non- Motorized canoes or kayaks only. Rentals available in limited supply. $40 rental includes watercraft, paddles, and pfds. Rental watercraft are hard-shell canoes.
Cost: $75 per racer
Racer Check In: 7:30-8:15am
Race Briefing: 8:15am
Race Start: 8:30am
Required Gear:
- 1 mountain bike per team member
- 1 bike helmet per team member
- 1 paddle and pfd per team member (included with rentals)
- 1 compass per team
- 1 1:24000 scale UTM plotter per team
- pens/pencil
- 1 hydration system per team member
- 1 cell phone per team (in waterproof bag)
Recommended Gear:
- waterproof mapcase
- small ruler/straight edge
- 1 hydration system per team member (water bottle, camelbak, etc)
- Food (energy bars, gels, etc) Easily digestable food is highly recommended
- Extra pair shoes/socks
- Change of clothes (for post race)
- Long pants or leg gaiters
- Sponge or bilge pump for paddling section
- Sun shade or EZ Up for transition area
- Sun Block
- Bug Spray
- Good attitude!
